Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy (BHRT)

Our hormones make up the very fabric of our well-being. If our hormones are balanced, we experience positive feelings of well-being and an optimism and zest for our everday life. Both men and women do experience a decline in hormonal balance with age, but medical advances like Bio-Identical Hormone Therapy mean that you no longer have to suffer through hormonal declines.

Women with hormonal imbalances commonly report hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, poor sleep, loss of sex drive, weight gain, and depression as a result of hormonal changes. Though many still believe that they must just learn to “deal with it,” this is no longer the case as hormonal changes can now be effectively treated using natural methods such as Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT).

BHRT is the treatment of hormone deficiencies using hormones that are identical to the hormones normally produced by the human body. Unlike synthetic hormones, bioidentical hormones are commonly taken from natural sources such as Soy and  wild yam.

Progesterone, Testosterone and three types of Estrogen are the hormones found in a woman’s body. All of these hormones are equally important for the well-being of a woman.

Like women, men also experience a decline in hormones. Andropause (sometimes referred to as “male menopause”) is the decline of testosterone levels in men. Men’s testosterone levels start to decline by the age of 30, often times putting a strain on relationships and making daily life a constant struggle.

Testosterone levels in  men usually peak between the ages of 18-25 and then gradually decline at a rate of approximately 1% thereafter.

Symptoms of Andropause include decreased sexual desire, increased daytime fatigue, weight gain, muscle loss, depression, memory loss, erectile dysfunction, and irritability. Most men rationalize these changes by believing that they are bored with their everyday routines, or overly stressed by the demands of life and career.

At Aesthetics & Anti-Aging Medical Center, we use a comprehensive blood test to determine the hormone deficiencies and imbalances of both men and women. We then customize a program specifically designed for the needs of each patient. Dr. Barsoum and his staff will work closely with you every step of the way to get you back on the right path towards superior health and well-being.
